‘Georgeous’ slit coil from ThyssenKrupp

Vetchberry, the coil processing division of ThyssenKrupp Materials (UK) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Business Area Materials Services, has reached an important landmark.

A new flagship 1850mm wide coil slitting line is commencing production at the Birmingham (UK) Service Centre, following successful trials by manufacturer Heinrich Georg GmbH in conjunction with ThyssenKrupp Materials’ production and quality teams headed by Adrian Palmer, Operations Manager. “We’ve worked so hard to get here. The need to accurately feed coil fed production has never been more apparent.“

The line, which can handle coils of up to 28 tonnes, has a capacity to process stainless steel from 0.3 mm to 4.0 mm thick and aluminium up to 5 mm thick, setting new standards in edge and strand quality together with significantly longer production runs yielding larger finished coils.

Billy Kingsbury, Divisional Director at Vetchberry: “We’ve got great products to offer and it’s our job now to make sure our customers understand how they can add real value to their business. The investment programme continues, and 2016 we will see further developments within the business, securing Vetchberry’s position as the UK’s premier service centre for stainless steel and aluminium.”
