Good to Go Safety Shortlisted for Top Award

The IAPAs are renowned as one of the most prestigious and respected awards in the access industry, with a top quality judging panel of access industry leaders voting to determine the winners which will be announced in Washington, DC, USA on March 25, 26 and 27, 2015. The IAPAs celebrate best practice and excellence in the powered access industry, attracting audiences of around 450 each year.  There are 13 award categories, ranging from new products and innovations to safety and training.

The judges were looking for good business practice, innovation and forward thinking, along with quality, and client satisfaction and more than 95 entries were received this year.

“There was an excellent range of entries this year from across the world,” said Euan Youdale, editor of Access International, and non-voting chairman of the judges. “The judges were impressed by the high quality of the submissions and it was a great meeting. We thank the judges for all their efforts.”

The independent and impartial judging panel spent an entire day considering all the entries and Good to Go Safety are pleased to announce they have been shortlisted for this year’s “Contribution to Safe Working at Height” award which focuses on individuals or companies that have made a significant contribution to safe working at height, whether through the development of a product/attachment/device; outstanding commitment to safety within its/their own company; or promoting safe working practices in the industry.

Good to Go Safety offers a Safe Equipment Management System (SEMS) designed to encourage pre-use checks of a wide range of workplace equipment – including for MEWPs.

There are other checklists on the marketplace but our range offers many benefits to the customer. The main advantage is the duplicate copy of each checklist – allowing a permanent record that inspections have been carried out in line with the company’s policies. In the event of an accident, these records can be used to prove the equipment has been properly maintained and checked.

The fact that the completed checklist is displayed in the tag on the machine also means that workers instantly know when it was checked and what the findings were – saving time and alleviating concerns. The addition of a tamper evident seal adds extra confidence that the findings are accurate.

The MEWP checklist has been designed to be used on virtually any type of MEWP – whether a cherry picker, telescopic boom or scissor lift and includes a comprehensive list of essential safety/component checks. The checklists also offer full flexibility in terms of frequency of inspections – whether that is daily, weekly, monthly or ad-hoc.

The range of checklists that we now offer also allows the same system to be rolled out on other essential equipment types – including harnesses, scaffold towers, ladders, podium steps etc to provide a complete solution to equipment safety when working at height. The same tag fits onto all equipment types and allows the easy roll-out of the system across multiple departments.

Key benefits of the Good to Go Safety SEMS include:

  • Compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Reduce the potential for accidents.
  • Documented evidence of equipment maintenance.
  • Reduction in maintenance costs by identifying minor faults before they develop into costly major faults.
  • Quick and easy to use/implement within the company.
  • It informs employees of the equipment status before they use it – displaying up-to-date information.
  • Allows instant quarantine of equipment if faults are found.

Graham Halliday, Product Manager, “We are extremely proud and appreciative that Good to Go Safety has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and thankful that our hard work and dedication to improving workplace safety has been recognised. The fact that we are competing alongside market leaders in the field of powered access is testament to the significant benefits that Good to Go Safety can offer to workplace safety.”
