Pollution incidents associated with run-off from the de/anti-icing of aircraft are well documented and airfields and airports have over recent years implemented a range of measures to minimise the impact caused to the environment when the process takes place.

Investigations found that the lake had been contaminated with de/anti-icing product from the local airfield and this was found to be directly attributable to failed systems on site.
