Secure remote access made easy: Secomea

For truly secure and easy to set up remote access, X-STK|Applied Automation will be showcasing Secomea at this year’s Machine Building Show and launching the new integrated WiFi option. Visitors will be able to see the unique solution in action on stand C7. They can take control via the internet and remotely monitor a machine at the co-located PPMA Show.

Secomea is a leading, secure remote access industrial communications solution for the automation and machine industry. New for autumn 2015, integrated WiFi is now available as an option.

For machine builders and system integrators it is a means of access to a whole host of remote devices including PLCs, HMIs, drives, I/O blocks, even USB and serial devices. It takes just 15 minutes to set up and as security is a priority, it has been independently certified.

There is no real IT skill requirement, no need for a VPN, a fixed IP address or open ports in firewalls that would worry IT departments. It works over the internet or a mobile network allowing you to connect remotely and securely to a machine for programming, monitoring and data-logging.

David Rowe, Managing Director of X-STK|Applied Automation said: “Secomea is a really popular product and we’re expecting a lot of interest at the Machine Building Show. It’s going to be exciting to demonstrate the remote access capabilities by linking with a machine that’s situated elsewhere in the NEC, visitors can then go and see it in action for themselves.”

The Secomea solution is built from three components; SiteManager, GateManager and LinkManager. The SiteManager control unit connects to the machine via Ethernet, Serial and USB. There are a number of different models to choose from depending on remote connection preferences, i.e. via LAN, WiFi or 3G.

The LinkManager is a web or Windows based client with a simple interface allowing single click connectivity to your devices. The two are linked via a M2M communication server, the GateManager, which is available as both a cloud based service or a stand-alone server and handles the connections and encrypted traffic. User access is controlled with a simple drag and drop system and with multi-level authentication and AES/SSL encryption, Secomea is one of the most secure remote connection methods available in the marketplace.

Secomea has been developed in Denmark by Secomea A/S, one of the leading providers of remote access solutions for the automation and machine industry. It is now available in the UK from X-STK|Applied Automation. A starter pack is available from £345.
