Electro-Wind Continues to Expand with Major Factory Refurbishment and Extension.
Electro-Wind Ltd is proud to announce the continued expansion and investment in its operations, marked by the recent extension and refurbishment of its main production premises.
Operating across three sites, Electro-Wind has grown over 47 years. Following the 2016 expansion into a 20,000 sq. ft. facility to accommodate offices, stores, and despatch, and the addition of a dedicated production unit last year, attention has now turned to the powerhouse of the business—the main factory building.
Electro-Wind moved into its current main factory in 2012. Formerly occupied by a UK national engineering company, the site was adapted for Electro-Wind’s operations, with much of the original layout and crane infrastructure proving highly beneficial. Since then, the company has experienced consistent growth in production capabilities, staff numbers, and the size and weight of the transformers produced.
The addition of a separate premises in 2024 for smaller transformer manufacturing significantly reduced congestion, allowing the main factory to focus solely on large, specialised projects.
In 2025 and 2026, major investment has seen the main factory building extended, fully refurbished, and reorganised. New equipment has been installed, including advanced winding machines, two new ovens, enhanced air extraction systems, and additional cranes—each contributing to a more efficient and streamlined workflow throughout the workshop.
Production Director John Williams commented:
“It’s been an incredibly productive two years. Not only have we successfully delivered for all our customers, but we’ve also implemented vital changes that will support and future-proof our operations.”
As a second-generation, family-owned and operated company, Electro-Wind Ltd is proud to have supported and contributed to the growth of the UK engineering industry for over 47 years—and remains committed to continued innovation and development.
