Major UK Power Station Critical UPS replacement by Power Continuity Ltd
RWE is a leader in Power Generation across the UK and Europe, Critical Power Stations require robust, resilient Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for all On SITE control systems to ensure continuous electrical power is provided to millions of homes in the UK, instantaneously ‘on demand’ as and when required, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
RWE Staythorpe Power Station, Newark, required its ageing UPS systems to be replaced with a Brand-New UPS system, totally resilient No Break UPS installation that will provide 25 years of service.
The winning company had to design from scratch a proven resilient UPS system, build and install at the Power Station whilst retaining resilience throughout the entire installation period.
A rigorous tender process ensued, until RWE chose Power Continuity Ltd for the total installation from Design, build, installation and commissioning of the NEW UPS systems.
Throughout the project, Power Continuity temporarily installed almost 2 kilometres of cabling across the sprawling site to support our containerised UPS system, which provided Temporary resilient Power Protection, whilst our engineers worked on the critical existing UPS system replacement.
RWE insist on the highest levels of safety and quality controls across all their Power Stations. Power Continuity engineers worked closely with RWE management throughout the project.
The project began October 2024 and was completed on time and within budget on Dec 19th 2025.
