Mueller Electric – Inventors of the Crocodile Clip

Since Mueller Electric was established in 1908 the company has innovated and developed to become one of the world’s leading suppliers of crocodile clips, sometimes called alligator clips, electrical connectors, test leads and patch cords, and cable assemblies for factory automation and grounding.

With a Head Office and manufacturing facility in Akron, Ohio, in the United States the company operates in Europe through a regional Sales Office, Warehouse, and Distribution Centre in Nottingham.

As the inventor of the Crocodile Clip with the first patents going back over 100 years, the company is responsible for creating and developing some of the most recognisable metal clips and clamps in use today, including charging clips for automotive battery cables, and today Mueller offers the World’s largest range of crocodile clips for industrial applications.

Crocodile clips come in all shapes and sizes with different types of jaws and teeth. Deciding which one to use depends on what material the clip clamps to and varies by application.

From small miniature clips to the ‘Big Brute’ welding clip, nickel plated, stainless steel, and solid copper construction, with solder, crimp or screw contacts, an endless list of options are available for the most challenging environments.

Mueller Electric clips are currently used in a wide variety of applications and industries including;

  • Test & Measurement
  • Process Control
  • Automotive
  • Mass Transportation
  • Information Technology
  • Medical Equipment
  • Telecommunications
  • Aerospace & Defence
