PowTechnology Celebrates 35 Years As Specialists In Intelligent Automation!

PowTechnology is celebrating!! 2025 marks 35 years since our company was formed! It’s been an amazing year in terms of enquiries, projects and launching innovative IIoT solutions .. well worthy of celebration in it’s own right. Reaching this 35-year milestone is a delicious cherry on the cake!

1990 was a memorable year! Nelson Mandela was released, the two sides of the Channel Tunnel met under the sea, the Madchester rave scene reached its zenith and Powelectrics (PowTechnology) was formed!

It’s been an era of incredible change and evolution. Powelectrics was founded as a sensor distributor into factory automation and process control, named after its founder, Henry Powell.

Over time, it evolved, making it easy for our customers to connect data from sensors and machines to the cloud, using innovative technologies. We listened to our customers and developed IIoT solutions to meet their needs.

2005 saw the introduction of our first award-winning Metron telemetry devices and we launched our flexible, robust MetronView cloud in 2011.

In 2021, with 100,000 remote monitoring devices deployed globally, Powelectrics benefitted from a major investment by Quinn Venture Investments, with Peter Quinn and John Higham joining Dave Oakes on our Board.

In 2022, Powelectrics became PowTechnology to better represent our capabilities as an organisation, whilst maintaining the ‘POW’ as a link to our company heritage.

In 2023, PowTechnology were delighted to be appointed Siemens Process Instrumentation Solution Partners, customising Siemens instrumentation into end-to-end, fully-integrated, ready-to-go, customer-specific digital transformation solutions. This partnership goes from strength to strength and we thank the many Siemens folk who support us at shows, on social media, give technical support & bring us enquiries!

PowTechnology continuously strengthens our brand and offer. We’re ISO9001/ISO27001 certified and display over 35 case studies on our website, showcasing practical, robust smart manufacturing solutions, across a broad range of sectors and all over the world.

We’ve consciously moved into the thought leadership space with a series of in-depth interviews, podcasts, presentations and webinars, all available on our YouTube channel.

This has super-charged our presence in the world of smart manufacturing and made us the go-to IIoT partner, not only to improve specific processes, but also for people needing to get sensor and instrumentation data into ERP, maintenance, building management and logistics platforms.

2025 has seen unprecedented growth from record enquires, sales and order book, to new applications, new sectors, new events, new awards and new talent across the organisation! We’ve delivered on our product roadmap, expanding our range of versatile I4.0 solutions and helping customers drive efficiency, productivity and sustainability.

I must take this opportunity to thank the amazing PowTechnology people … those who’ve been growing, developing skills and taking on new responsibilities for years … and those who have brought their insight, experience and enthusiasm more recently.

Our 30th anniversary took place in the immediate aftermath of lockdown, so ‘Team POW’ were deprived of their well-deserved celebration. We’ll certainly make up for it this time!!
