New Research: Texture Jet Delivers 4× More Precise Edge Finishing on Nickel Superalloys

TextureJet has completed an in-depth research project validating the repeatability and precision of our electrochemical jet machining technology for edge break treatments on nickel superalloy components.

Building on findings from our 2024 White Paper, which demonstrated superior edge finishing quality on aerospace parts, this latest study takes it further:

  • 4× more precise than manual brush deburring
  • Nearly 2× more precise than automated brush deburring

For manufacturers of precision components, this means tighter control over edge profiles, leading to enhanced part quality, reduced rework, and greater process confidence—especially when dealing with complex geometries and high-value materials.

Texture Jet’s technology is setting a new benchmark in edge finishing performance.

What is Electrochemical Jet Machining?

Electrochemical Jet Machining (ECJM) is a precise adaptation of more traditional Electrochemical Machining which can be used on any conductive material.

The electrolyte is delivered via a nozzle to the component. An electrical charge is passed between them, causing a controlled amount of material to be removed from the component surface.

The removed material is dissolved in the electrolyte, washed away, filtered, and the electrolyte is recycled through the process.

Key Benefits of Electrochemical Jet Machining

  • High Precision without Masking

Ability to machine complex shapes with high precision without the need for masking, saving time, cost and waste.

  • Suitable for Hard to Machine Materials

Suitability for hard-to-machine materials regardless of their hardness or toughness.

  • High Quality Finish

Excellent surface finish with no microcracks, deformation or residual stress.
