Small Changes Will Pay-Off into the Next Decade! The Importance of Enclosure Climate Control
We have moved into a new decade, so inevitably there have been endless debates/predictions about what the next 10 years will bring, and whether our lives will become more comfortable, satisfying, happy etc as a result…
Well, I can make one prediction that I’m sure history will prove to be true: making small changes to your enclosures could mean your business reaps huge benefits, not just for the next 10 years, but well into the 2030s.
Protect your Control Equipment
The focus in any manufacturing environment is the protection of the “money makers”; the machine tools, production line, robot arm etc. But these elements don’t operate in isolation.
In the human body, our limbs receive signals from our brains in order to function; on a production line the instructions to your machines are issued by your control equipment i.e. PLCs, drives and transformers. Without this information your machinery is powerless and production will grind to a halt.
The lost output will not only be very expensive, it could cause huge reputational damage
(I’m reminded of the proverb “For Want of a Horseshoe Nail”* which neatly illustrates how a seemingly small, insignificant omission can have catastrophic consequences.)
The cause is typically lack of adequate protection for your controlling equipment, and this will not only be detrimental to the equipment’s output, it will also impact on its longer-term reliability and lifespan.
You can avoid all these consequences by maintaining an environment that is appropriate for the operation of your control equipment – and this includes climate control.
Which Cooling System?
The right cooling solution prevents dirt entering the enclosure, increases the lifespan of equipment within and alerts you to any developing issues before they become barriers to productivity.
Depending on your site and the amount of equipment that needs protection, the right solution can range from something as simple as a small filter fan which pulls ambient air through the enclosure, right up to a large, robust chiller system that can supply multiple enclosures or machines.
You needn’t be overwhelmed by the question of which cooling system to choose; at Rittal we can work with you to advise you. Our team can help you narrow down your options so you can select the right one to suit your specific applications needs.
We are the market-leading manufacturers of climate control equipment so you can rest assured that Rittal’s level of knowledge and expertise is at the forefront of technology and innovation. This means you can reap the benefits of energy-efficient solutions and tap into a wealth of industry knowledge to make sure you get the best solution for you.
