Steam Trap Monitors – DCO’s range expanding in 2025
DCO’s range of Steam Trap Monitors (STM) expands in 2025 with new options added to the class leading sensing options already available. Designed and manufactured in the UK our Easy Steam Trap Monitor range introduces new ultrasonic options for enhanced sensing of high-capacity, high-throughput traps.

Figure 1: Easy STM DN15/20 and DN25 models
Widest sensor range
DCO’s STM models already boast the widest range of sensing options with:
- Trap inlet and outlet temperatures
- Movement and vibration
- Acoustics (airborne noise)
- Air temperature and humidity levels
Larger diameter traps have greater potential for high steam loss even from small leaks. The new Easy STM Ultra models introduce contact ultrasonic sensing to detect lower levels of leakage at an earlier stage:
- Contact (pipe) ultrasonic sensing
Continuous data
Without the power restrictions of battery powered devices, our monitors collect data and telemetry continuously for an unmatched depth and breadth of data on your steam systems.
No more annual / six-monthly / quarterly datasets from manual steam trap surveys. With data collection to second-by-second timescales even the most transient and intermittent events can be captured.
Improves performance
With continuous monitoring, early identification of abnormal behaviour, leaks and trap failures are more quickly diagnosed. Energy losses are reduced to eliminate unnecessary costs and important safety problems such as failed, and failing, cold traps are identified rapidly.
Steam trap monitoring simplified
Easy STM models allow
- Simplified (non-invasive) installation
- Zero maintenance with energy harvested power
- Wireless operation with robust long-range LoRaWAN capabilities
Energy harvesting
Battery free with integrated energy-harvesting unit and on-board smart energy storage. Heat energy from the pipework is used to charge a long-life energy store that lasts for the lifetime of the unit.
Autonomous
Truly wireless, battery-free solution designed for easy installation and zero maintenance monitoring. No battery replacements, no fixed wiring requirements – install directly at the trap location with no further infrastructure required.
Access end-to-end monitoring and diagnostics …
A complete end-of-end solution is available. Our easily deployed wireless connectivity (standards based LoRaWAN) runs independently of your internal networks to simplify rollout and internal IT requirements; and ensures a secure air gap between steam trap monitoring and your existing process control systems.
A cloud architecture allows access from any location at any time. All data, analysis and trap information are fully available through our DiscoverRA dashboard and services platform.
… or deploy a hybrid monitoring solution …
Unlike many vendors DCO also gives you the option to build your own solution – customers can integrate our monitors into their operations and maintenance platforms, data warehousing and analytics systems.
A hybrid solution allows you to use the features of the DiscoverRA platform while incorporating your steam trap monitor data into your in-house systems. Enhance your data sets and make more of your process visible.
… or simply use your own
Avoid vendor lock-in and restrict access to your data with the ability to use your own platform, network services and connectivity. With LoRaWAN compatible communications DCO’s steam trap monitors can be incorporated into your own infrastructure without any dependency on 3rd party or external services.
Install anywhere
We can provide installation services, or support and train your own installers, by arrangement. Our steam trap monitors can go wherever your steam traps are…
