Tapeswitch celebrates its 30th birthday

A manufacturing company in Chorley which designs and manufactures pressure-sensitive sensors and switching products for safety, detection and control applications is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Tapeswitch Limited, based on Chorley North Industrial Park, is part of the worldwide Tapeswitch Group of companies and specialises in manufacturing high-quality products for clients across the globe.

The UK company was formed in 1991 and has been based at its current site since 1997.

Over the years that followed, Tapeswitch has seen significant levels of growth and has cemented a prominent position with customers in several market sectors, such as factory automation, aerospace, commercial vehicles, security, leisure and access controls.

The company’s recent investment in industrial 3D printers has increased its capacity and has played a pivotal role in enabling the company to produce innovative products to meet specific customer needs.

After the retirement of the previous Managing Director in 2019, Gary Davies was appointed the new Managing Director and formed a management team with a combined total of over 100 years’ experience in the market.

The business recorded excellent trading figures in 2020 despite several challenges to overcome as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit. Tapeswitch also underwent a refurbishment of its production facility, and the installation of a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.

The company is now in a prime position to continue its growth strategy and remain at its current site for many years to come. Gary Davies, Managing Director at Tapeswitch, has worked at the business since its opening in 1991.

He highlighted the achievements of the team during Covid-19 and the bright future that lies ahead.

He said : “It’s a phenomenal achievement to have been based at our Chorley factory for the past 30 years.

“I have been here since the very start and we have grown from strength-to-strength over the years.

“Despite the challenges that Covid-19 and Brexit has brought us, each member of staff has worked incredibly hard during difficult times and we recorded excellent trading figures.

“We introduced new production, engineering and senior management teams last year, all of whom have the experience and knowledge required to take us to the next level.

“I am incredibly proud of our achievements in the past year and to reach our 30th birthday. We are all excited for the future.”
