Contrinex Smart Sensor Nut Detection Video

Contrinex’s latest animated product video shows how a Smart inductive sensor detects the presence of a metal assembly and whether a small weld nut is present.
The small size and low metal content of weld nuts traditionally make them hard to detect reliably with inductive sensors. Photoelectric sensors don’t provide an alternative because they can be influenced by changes in lighting or component colour or finish. Photoelectric sensors are often not robust enough to work in harsh environments like metalwork assembly.
The animation shows Contrinex’s uniquely robust M12 metal-housed, DMS inductive Smart measurement sensor robustly identifying a missing weld nut in this challenging application.

The animation shows how the Smart inductive sensor identifies the presence of the metal assembly but can also differentiate if the weld-nut is present, switching its two outputs accordingly. The sensor’s built-in optional time delay and timer functions are used to prevent false positives, for example when the assembly is first loaded to the jig, to improve the reliability of the detection, ensuring only good parts are assembled.
The intuitive graphical display of the PocketCodr handheld configurator enables technicians to configure sensors for varying assemblies and geometries quickly and effortlessly. The PocketCodr app provides fast and effective setup and monitoring on a smartphone or mobile device, removing the need for a laptop and adaptors.
