Free-Way 6 Position Toggle Switch Re-design
The new Free-Way Switch Range opens up an entirely new dimension in guitar pickup selection and potential for other applications. The 6 position lever switch in its conventional form provides 2 pole 6 position circuit selection with the ability to select any of the 6 positions non sequentially if required, unlike a conventional rotary switch approach.
Originally used in the Gibson® Jimmy Page Les Paul® Custom signature guitar, the Free-Way Switch has been re-designed and styled for today’s guitar market. The new range has been developed by designer and guitarist Alasdair Bryce whose company, AB Design collaborated closely with engineers at NSF Controls Ltd to enhance performance and manufacturing ability.
As well as delivering extensive pickup configurations and vast tonal flexibility from a single control, the retro look makes it visually indistinguishable from a 3 way toggle switch. The standard toggle tips are available in black or cream and the compact, concentric design fits directly into a 35mm cavity for retro-fit into Les Paul style guitars. There is no need for modifications or alterations to the guitar’s appearance.
Improvements include a positive index positional control providing a distinct switching action for fast intuitive changes. The solid construction of stainless steel metalwork, gold plated terminals and glass-filled nylon mouldings has been endurance tested past one million operations. The gold plated solder pad terminations not only make installation easy but also eliminate electrical noise.
Free-Way switches are made in England by NSF Controls Ltd and are available through a growing distribution network.
