Royal HaskoningDHV recognised for asset management expertise with ISO55001 certification

Lloyd’s Register recognises Royal HaskoningDHV for its approach to asset management at Chemelot Industrial Park, making them one of the world’s first engineering consultancies to receive ISO55001 certification.

Chemelot is the largest chemical industrial park in the Netherlands, and is home to over 50 companies including DSM, Sabic, OCI, Sekisui, Air Liquide and Lanxess. As owner of the infrastructural assets on the Chemelot site, Sitech awarded Royal HaskoningDHV the responsibility for the asset management of 80km of roads, pipe racks, 50km of railway lines, 16 bridges, a harbour, and 195km of sewer pipes.

Marcel Roost, Sitech Site Infrastructure Manager of Chemelot – the owner of the assets – said: ‘Royal HaskoningDHV has worked with us since 2006, to ensure the right level of maintenance and availability of our infrastructure assets across the park. Together we are able to reduce structural costs, minimise risks, and improve performance.’ Royal HaskoningDHV not only works to ‘maintain’ the assets but to manage their complete life-cycles and ultimately reduce CO2 levels.

ISO55001 is the new international standard for asset management. The standard supersedes PAS55 and goes a step further by incorporating the financial impact of asset management decisions. The managing agent role allows Royal HaskoningDHV to separate the owner, manager and service provider roles associated with asset management, thereby helping firms increase transparency, avoid conflict of interest situations and deliver higher service levels.

Geert Fuchs, Project Director of Asset Management, Royal HaskoningDHV, said: ‘Our role as managing agent means that we can independently support our clients to optimise their assets. Our in-house expertise and experience means that clients have access to the highest standards of implementation advice and solutions that are tailored to their specific needs.’

Royal HaskoningDHV has a successful, proven track record as managing agent; a role which enables asset owners to focus on core activities, while protecting asset value.
