Funding available to transform your teams with Apprentcieships

Creating future leaders, skilled teams and new talent is easy with Government-supported Apprenticeships.

There is funding available now for technical engineering and manufacturing apprenticeships of all levels and for leadership, management and continuous improvement skills which could take your business to the next level.

Investing in the people who make your company a success is always a good idea. Keeping and developing good people is critical for ensuring an effective and efficient business which can manage fluctuating demand and adapt to change.

Expertise which keeps delivering

With industry specialist trainers, partnerships with leading Non-Destructive Testing training schools and more than 25-years of education and training experience – including setting up Materials Testing Apprenticeship Standards in partnerships with the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing – our award-winning Non-Destructive Testing and advanced manufacturing Apprenticeships can deliver your goals.

As a leader in the field, 86% of our NDT Apprentices achieve a distinction. We also offer the only Level 6 NDT degree in the country.

Staffordshire based NDT company, PTS Group recently partnered with Skills Training to upskill their staff, taking advantage of Government co-funding incentives which paid for 95% of the training cost.

Adam Bates took the chance to gain new skills after working at PTS for more than ten years. He recently completed a Level 6 Engineering Degree with Skills Training UK and the University of Northampton – our award-winning BSc for Non-Destructive Testing which also offers the opportunity to register and an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

Adam said: “Being able to complete a degree-level qualification that’s recognised internationally, whilst continuing to work and still balance family life is so rare. It’s given me a solid background knowledge of all areas of Non-Destructive Testing to support my day-to-day role as Quality and Health and Safety Manager, plus advanced techniques.”

Build happy, confident teams

Great training doesn’t just impact business outputs, it really can transform company culture and morale. Employee satisfaction leads to a more motivated, effective and resilient workforce and the opportunity to upskill brings loyalty and better retention.

“I definitely feel like I’m managing the team better. I know how to deal with stressful situations and I can work effectively to minimise conflict – allowing the team to maintain the productivity that we’re looking for,” said Filip Tutak, Supervisor at Bristol Port Company.

We believe everybody matters, our training is fully-inclusive, regardless of previous experience, academic achievement or seniority.

John Mann, Production Operative at Church and Dwight, said: “The trainer assessor put everyone at ease, he was especially good at identifying everyone’s individual skills and their different levels of abilities to use as a strength for the team. This was very good for team progression.”

How to fund it

If you are a large employer with an annual wage bill of over £3 million, you will already be paying the Apprenticeship Levy as 0.5% of your total wage bill. We can help you understand and use the Levy to achieve your workforce goals.

If you are a small to medium sized employer the Government will pay 95% of the cost of an Apprenticeship and you will pay just 5 per cent (called co-investment).

The funding can be applied to all current or new employees, regardless of their level of experience.

Our Apprenticeship programs include:

  • Leadership and Management Standards at Level 3/4/5
  • Continuous Quality Improvement at Levels 3/4/5/6
  • Lean Manufacturing Operative (Level 2)
  • Supply Chain Warehouse Operative (Level 2)
  • Non-Destructive Testing Operator (Level 2)
  • Non-Destructive Testing Engineering Technician (Level 3)
  • Non-Destructive Testing Engineer Degree (Level 6)
  • Industrial Coatings Applicator (Level 3)
  • Business Administration and Customer Service Standards at Level 2/3
  • Digital Marketer (Level 3)
