Munters protects electronics

Managing overall environmental control is essential for electronics manufacturing processes and operations as well as facilities that provide mission critical services. Room temperature must be kept low in order to keep hard working servers from overheating. However, lowering the temperature can cause condensation, which can be dangerous in an electronic environment.

Process Loop Calibration optimises Plant Stability

The calibration of analogue signals from myriad sensors and transducers in a process plant is essential not only to ensure correct readings on instruments but also for the feedback signals required for stable process plant operation, argues Barry Atkins.

A typical process plant will generate outputs to several sensors and transducers as shown in the accompanying diagram. These outputs include process parameters like temperature, pH, pressure, flow and level, and mechanical parameters from devices like tachometers, accelerometer and position encoders, amongst others.

November webinars cover wide variety of important DAQ subjects

HBM has announced a series of free on-line webinars starting in the latter part of October and taking place throughout November. The first of the November series starts on 4th November by looking at how the mechanical stress testing of elastic materials validates finite element analysis (FEA) for material development and testing.

Engineers will learn how to perform these tests including selecting appropriate strain gauge rosettes, various modes of strain gauge connectivity, data acquisition setup, acquiring strain data and calculating principal stress. The webinar will also discuss how to determine the von Mises reference stress, class counting and sector monitoring.

Integrates into any workflow process to automate communication with stakeholders – reducing costs, increasing productivity and improving customer experience.

Boomerang’s patented messaging technology is the first to reliably match multiple outbound messages with a recipient’s response.

This enables something unique – an organization can now make its interactions with stakeholders fully automated based on the stakeholder’s response; reducing the need for manual intervention via more costly and time consuming methods.

Next REACH Deadline: Small is Big

The next major REACH registration deadline concerns substances manufactured in or imported into Europe in relatively small quantities, just 1 to 100 tonnes per year. ECHA is encouraging companies to prepare now for registration in those ranges. Low volumes represent a big compliance challenge because many small to mid-sized businesses fall into the category of businesses who use or ship chemicals in that range.
